Lake McIntyre
A restored wetland reserve on the edge of Millicent, with easy boardwalks and abundant birdlife.
Lake McIntyre began as a quarry and has been transformed into one of the region's most successful wetland restoration projects, on the northern edge of Millicent. A flat, accessible loop of paths and boardwalks circles the water through reedbeds and revegetated bushland.
The reserve is alive with birds, with hides and platforms set up for watching the ducks, grebes, swans and parrots that gather here. Interpretive signs explain the restoration and the local ecology, making it a favourite with families and school groups.
Close to town and free to visit, Lake McIntyre is an easy, rewarding stop for anyone keen on birds or a gentle nature walk.
