A dramatic limestone sinkhole and waterfall in the heart of Mount Gambier, of deep cultural significance to the Boandik people.
The city's birthplace
The Cave Garden — known as Thugi to the Boandik people — is a deep limestone sinkhole right in the centre of Mount Gambier. It was the town's original water source and remains a place of significant Aboriginal cultural heritage. After winter rain a waterfall tumbles into the chasm, and a nightly sound-and-light show projects onto its walls. A circular viewing platform lets you look straight down into the cave.
