Coorong Lookout (Kingston SE)
A lookout at the southern end of the Coorong near Kingston SE, overlooking the lagoons and dunes of the national park.
The end of the Coorong
Kingston SE marks the southern gateway to the Coorong, the long, narrow system of lagoons and dunes that stretches north toward the Murray Mouth. A lookout near the town gives sweeping views over the wetlands, where pelicans, swans and migratory waders gather in internationally significant numbers.
The Coorong is protected as a national park and Ramsar wetland, and from here travellers can follow it north or pause to take in the birdlife, the salt lagoons and the great sweep of dunes separating the lagoon from the Southern Ocean.
