A long, calm swimming beach on Lacepede Bay at the edge of Kingston SE, with white sand, gentle waves and easy access for families.
Kingston's quiet swimming spot
Just along the bay from the town centre, Wyomi Beach stretches for about two kilometres along the sheltered curve of Lacepede Bay. Protected from the big Southern Ocean swell, the water here is typically calm and clear — the kind of beach where small children can paddle while parents actually relax.
The sand is white and gently shelving, and there is plenty of free parking behind the foredune with easy walk-in access. Fishing from the beach is popular at quieter times, and the shallow bay is good for a casual snorkel on still days.
Wyomi sits just minutes from the Kingston foreshore and its jetty, so it is easy to combine a swim with fish and chips in town — and no visit to Kingston is complete without the obligatory photo beneath Larry the Lobster on the way through.
