The Sheep's Back Museum
A wool-industry museum in a historic Naracoorte flour mill, telling the story of the South East's pastoral past.
The story of wool
Housed in a handsome 1870s flour mill, The Sheep's Back Museum in Naracoorte tells the story of the wool industry that built the South East. Displays cover shearing, the great pastoral runs, the lives of station workers, and the wool trade that underpinned the region's early prosperity.
The museum is run by the local National Trust branch and makes an easy, atmospheric stop in town, pairing well with a visit to the nearby World Heritage caves to round out Naracoorte's deep human and natural history.
