A Robe Coastal Weekend

Two days of beaches, cliffs and history in the old port

2 days Couples and coastal wanderers 6 stops

The plan

Robe is the Limestone Coast's most loved holiday town, a historic port turned seaside escape where genteel cafes sit a few minutes from genuinely wild coast. This weekend balances both faces of the town: the heritage of the old harbour and the raw beauty of the surrounding beaches, cliffs and dune lakes.

Give yourself two days. Day one settles you into the town and its landmarks; day two ventures south into the conservation parks and freshwater lakes hidden behind the great dunes.

Day one

Get your bearings from Beacon Hill Lookout, then explore the town's history at the Customs House and the windswept Obelisk on the headland. Spend the afternoon on the calm sweep of Long Beach, one of the safest swimming and driving beaches on the coast.

Day two

Head south to Little Dip Conservation Park, where surf breaks like The Drain pound the limestone reef and a chain of coloured freshwater lakes hides among the towering dunes. It is wild, quiet country, a complete contrast to the town and the perfect end to a Robe weekend.
