The Drain (Robe)

A locally loved surf and swimming break on Robe's rugged coast, framed by limestone reef.

Known affectionately as The Drain, this break on Robe's southern coast is one of the area's most reliable surf spots, working on a range of swells over a limestone-reef bottom. On calmer days it draws swimmers and snorkellers to its clear water.

The surrounding coast is classic Robe: low limestone cliffs, rock platforms studded with rock pools, and the constant churn of the Southern Ocean. Walking tracks link it into the broader coastal reserve system around the town.

It is a reminder that Robe is as much a wild surf coast as a genteel holiday town, with raw ocean scenery just minutes from the cafes of the main street.
